Individuals with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) often face hearing loss well after completion of establishing spoken language. More specifically commonly
between late-teen years to late-twenties.
However, the biggest concern is often the time frame from when an individual knows they might go deaf and when they will become deaf is sometimes only weeks
or months, and not enough time to learn sign language enough for immediate needs in medical environments.
